“I think it’s very important to have date night in the first year of parenting. I highly recommend it. We had our first date night when our twins were three months old. We ended up going for a meal not too far from home, but it was nice to get out of the house, enjoy different scenery and spend some quality time with my wife. I think there are benefits to date night, such as being able to communicate and talk with your partner more freely without interruptions, build on the relationship as a couple and discuss the future of your family. Some tips I would suggest for date night would be to do things together that you did when you were dating and never stop communicating with one another, regardless of how tough things might get. There’s nothing like quality time together; this could be on a couples retreat for example, where you get to unwind and reconnect.”
